The GGR-D Programme is excited to be hosting the UK GGR Event, taking place at the Royal Institution in central London from Monday 29 September to Wednesday 1 October 2025. Bringing together researchers and innovators from the programme with policymakers, businesses, NGOs, investors and others with an interest in greenhouse gas removal (GGR), this free, celebratory event is the culmination of the 4.5-year UKRI-funded GGR-D Programme. We will share findings from research on assessing sustainable routes for large-scale removal in the UK, showcase the range of innovation and engagement projects supported through the programme, and foster debate on what comes next for GGR in the UK. The event will finish with an Innovation Day highlighting a range of UK start-ups that are tackling some of the most interesting GGR challenges facing us today.
Day 1: Inform (29 September)
This day is open to GGR-D Programme staff, funders and GGR-D Steering Committee representatives only. Researchers from the CO2RE Hub and the five Demonstrators (Biochar, ERW, GGR-Peat, NetZero+ and PBC4GGR) will present their research, share findings and discuss cross-cutting themes. Read more on the event webpage.
Day 2: Impact (30 September)
This day is open to GGR-D programme staff, stakeholders and anyone interested in GGR research developments and the implications for decision-makers. It will focus on insights from the GGR-D programme and the impact of our research. The day will include four plenary sessions with research leads from the GGR-D Programme and speakers from the media, industry, finance, academia and policy. There will also be parallel sessions with GGR-D researchers and a chance to see work by the CO2RE artists. We are delighted that the Royal Institution has offered to showcase the original John Tyndall exhibits used to demonstrate the existence of greenhouse gas. Read more on the event webpage.
Day 3: Innovate (1 October)
This day is open to GGR-D Programme staff, stakeholders and anyone interested in GGR innovation. It will bring together start-ups working on GGR and climate investors, corporate partners, leading academics and GGR enthusiasts. A selected group of start-ups will pitch to a distinguished jury for the chance to join the UK’s first dedicated CDR Accelerator, a bespoke programme supported by Undaunted and Innovate UK. Climate investors, climate-tech businesses, sustainability leads, researchers, policy experts, technologists, and anyone interested in the future of GGR are all welcome to attend.
