Our research
CO2RE’s interdisciplinary research spans the environmental, economic, social, cultural, ethical, legal and governance issues around Greenhouse Gas Removal (GGR).
Our research is organised around four main themes:
- Monitoring, reporting and verification, and socio-ecological systems.
- Policy, business and governance.
- Public perceptions.
- Synthesis and decision support.
We are part of the UKRI-funded Greenhouse Gas Removals Demonstrator (GGR-D) Programme, which comprises CO2RE and five Demonstrator projects examining land-based methods of GGR.
Innovation at CO2RE
We are also driving innovation in the GGR sector.
Our Pathfinders initiative funded very early-stage GGR projects that had the potential for high impact. Over three funding calls, we supported projects on seagrass, methane removal, afforestation, rock waste and many more.
Through our Innovation Platform, we provide hands-on technical, commercial and strategic support to early-stage GGR companies working on a wide variety of innovative technologies and approaches.
