Sam Fankhauser is co-lead on economic policies and incentives at CO2RE. He is Professor of Climate Economics and Policy at the Smith School of Enterprise and the Environment and the School of Geography and the Environment. He is also Research Director of Oxford Net Zero, the University of Oxford’s interdisciplinary research initiative on net zero. Sam is a Visiting Professor at the Grantham Research Institute on Climate Change and the Environment at the London School of Economics, which he directed before joining the University of Oxford. His academic interests are in the policy interventions and governance arrangements needed for a smooth transition to net zero.
Sam is an Associate Director at economics consultancy Vivid Economics. Earlier in his career, he worked at the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD), the World Bank and the Global Environment Facility. He has studied economics at the University of Berne (Switzerland), the London School of Economics and University College London.
