In 2025 Parliament’s Environmental Audit Committee issued a call for evidence on the Climate Change Committee’s Seventh Carbon Budget (CB7), which covers the period from 2038 to 2042. The purpose of the inquiry was to assess the underlying costs and assumptions in CB7, as well as the implications for technological development, policy, UK residents and the economy. It also looked at how the Government can communicate effectively on the choices and trade-offs it will have to make to achieve its aims, and how progress can be monitored.
