In 2025, Dr Alan Whitehead CBE was appointed by the Department for Energy Security and Net Zero to lead an Independent Review of Greenhouse Gas Removals. Researchers from CO2RE and the five Demonstrators submitted a joint response to the Review’s call for evidence. The Review was published in October 2025 and cited the evidence submitted by CO2RE and the Demonstrators, as well as research authored or co-authored by academics from across the GGR-D programme.
