On 23 October, the CO2RE Hub and the PBC4GGR Demonstrator will host a site visit to Bishop Burton College nearly Beverley in East Yorkshire. Those who join the visit will hear first-hand from researchers about the role that perennial biomass crops could play in greenhouse gas removal, and they will also have the opportunity to view the onsite field trials.
This is part of a series of site visits that the CO2RE Hub and GGR-D programme are organising to each of the five Greenhouse Gas Removal (GGR) Demonstrator Projects at the cutting edge of trialling GGR approaches that could play a vital role in achieving national and international climate goals.
This event is invitation-only. For more information, please email Dr Philippa Westbury, CO2RE Stakeholder Manager: p.westbury@imperial.ac.uk.
About the PBC4GGR Demonstrator
The PBC4GGR project is investigating the potential for plants like willow and miscanthus to support BECCS in the UK. It is demonstrating novel establishment techniques that maximise yield whilst minimising greenhouse gas emissions, and is providing an up-to-date quantification of the scope for greenhouse gas removal. The project has investigated the conditions required for farmer uptake and wider societal acceptance, and the costs, benefits and trade-offs for biodiversity and ecosystem services. You can find out more about the PBC4GGR project from their project video.
